I've recently bought an old Heron am in the process of renovating it. What I'd like to know is: What is the optimum length of the oars and what is the minimum length that can be usefully used. Thanks in anticipation.

I thought that i would reply to your post in the hope that others might reply to mine.
i dont know what the maximum and minimum effective lenghts are but i have oars which are 6 feet in length and seem to move to boat well and are not overly big to store.
