Bala Lake, Gwynedd, Mid Wales.
Glanllyn Caravan and camping Park.
The park has it's own excellent crescent shaped beach to launch from (firm and sandy) perfect access with a car and boat. The park is situated at the opposite end of the lake from Bala Town on the north shore in a sheltered corner. This end of the lake is popular with smaller dinghies including windsurfers.
Bala Sailing Club has easy access to one of the largest inland lakes in England and Wales and is also geographically a good midpoint between Scotland, London and the English South Coast .
The lake is favourably aligned for South Westerly winds which are predominant throughout the year and has easy access to a long foreshore and training events.
Bala itself is situated in one of the most beautiful venues for sailing and has many other outdoor attractions together with good accommodation, campsites, and places to eat, all at reasonable prices.
The Sailing Club's Clubhouse can provide you with a warm and friendly welcome to Wales .
Llangower Beach about half a mile up the lake is a good is a good place to sail to as a first destination, this is also used by small dinghies. It would be an acceptable alternative if Glanllyn were unable to take you. There are no boats for hire. Sailing day visitors fee is £5 plus a small launching fee. Cheaper for the weekend or full weeks. Fees include changing / shower facilities. They are friendly accommodating folk.
