Whether it's fun, low-cost racing in good company or cruising and pottering in a classic, seaworthy dinghy - there's nothing like a Heron

Designed by Jack Holt, the evergreen Heron remains as popular as ever, with world-wide numbers in excess of 10,000 boats.

In the UK, completed Herons are available in wood or GRP from a choice of builders, or the Heron may be home-built from a kit or from plans.

The Heron is an adopted class at sailing clubs up and down the country. The Heron Dinghy Class Association organises a full programme of regattas and open meetings throughout the sailing season.

From time to time the association newsletter carries articles written by Heron Ownerrs who have lovingly restored their Heron Dinghy and saved it from the Sailing Club Bonfire. This section on the website is provided to allow those articles to be made available with full colour pictures and to any length and detail required. (Some articles may be restricted to members).

The disclaimer that accompanies all association technical information sheets equally accompanies the descriptions provided within. The authors have described what they have done - the changes they made may not be within class rules, and may not be suitable for your sailing needs.
