I can see that broadly speaking our open meetings are based on a full days sailing and then homeward bound - Would anyone like to see this spin out to a full weekend or more of sailing with something of a social nature, maybe a meal or a BBQ ( with bouncy castle maybe for the kids ) on the stop over night? ;D

Interesting question Sean. Clearly there are advantages and disadvantages - for those who are travelling long distance it may be easier on the travelling - while for the local guys it probably means having to committ more time (eg away from the kids...)

Anyway - to help people give a quick response I've added a poll to your original question. But people who have strong opinions one way or the other (perhaps they have expereince from other classes?) should post a reply with some comments!!

Calum
Website Admin

One of the suggestions for the AGM is that it could be part of a open meeting. My experience of open meets is limitted but generally everyone is arriving at 10am, rigging and rushing to get on the water and by the end of the day they are tired and as soon as the prize giving is done they are wanting to get back on the move to where ever they've come from...

So if we did have a 2 day event then the AGM could take place in the evening between the two?

Just a thought... But perhaps a post in the topic: http://www.heron-dinghy.org.uk/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,78/topic,4.0/ might stir up some debate too?

During the informal discussions at this years AGM Dave Butler brought forward such a proposal. I doubt it'd happen for 2009 as we need to get those dates set fairly soon. However, it sounded like there was interest in discussing it further for 2010.

With that in mind I've resurrected this old post and opened a little poll on the side (only visible to logged in users). It isn't an official association vote - just an opportunity for us to gauge opinion. If anyone wants to discuss fell free below. Equally if anyone has an opinion feel free to use the voting buttons.

(And as a reminder for users if you have forgotten your password and so can't comment or vote in the poll please use this link: http://www.heron-dinghy.org.uk/component/option,com_comprofiler/task,lostPassword/ if you've forgotten your username or changed email address too please drop me a quick note with this form http://www.heron-dinghy.org.uk/component/option,com_contact/task,view/contact_id,2/Itemid,3/ )
